Polar H10 With Zonas

Updated June 1, 2026

Polar H10 works with Zonas because it broadcasts heart rate over Bluetooth Low Energy. Wear the strap, open Zonas settings, choose BLE Strap, scan for heart rate monitors, pair the H10, then start a workout. Zonas reads BPM directly and writes workout data to Apple Health.

Polar H10 is the straightforward case for Zonas.

It is a chest strap that broadcasts heart rate over Bluetooth. Zonas scans for the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate service, connects to the strap, and subscribes to live BPM updates.

Setup

  1. Wet the Polar H10 electrode area and put the strap on.
  2. Open Zonas on iPhone.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Choose BLE STRAP as the heart rate source.
  5. Tap scan for devices.
  6. Select the H10 when it appears.
  7. Start a workout.

When the H10 is connected, Zonas shows the paired device name and a connected status.

During A Workout

In BLE mode, the iPhone owns the workout.

Zonas reads each heart rate update from the H10, calculates the current zone, updates the workout screen, and writes heart rate samples to the active HealthKit workout builder.

That is what lets the app show the same live value across:

  • the workout screen
  • Picture-in-Picture
  • Live Activity
  • Dynamic Island
  • Lock Screen

If It Does Not Appear

Try the boring fixes first:

  • make sure the strap is being worn
  • wet the electrodes
  • close other workout apps that may be connected
  • move the strap close to the phone
  • replace the battery if readings are intermittent
  • tap Forget in Zonas and scan again

Most BLE straps only wake fully when worn. A dry strap on a table may not advertise reliably.

What Zonas Uses

Zonas does not use Polar-specific APIs.

It uses the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate service. That is the point. The app does not need a special Polar integration to read live BPM from an H10.

Polar’s own app is still useful for firmware updates and sensor settings. Zonas is the workout display and recording app.

Apple Watch Note

If you choose Apple Watch as the Zonas heart rate source, the H10 is not involved in that Zonas session.

BLE Strap and Apple Watch are separate source modes in the app. Pick the one you want before you start.

Common questions

Do I need the Polar Flow app to use Polar H10 with Zonas?

Not for a Zonas workout. Polar Flow is useful for firmware and sensor settings, but Zonas reads live heart rate directly over Bluetooth once the H10 is paired in Zonas.

Should I pair the H10 in iPhone Bluetooth settings first?

Use the Zonas device scanner first. The app is built around CoreBluetooth scanning and stores the monitor it connects to.

Can Polar H10 connect to more than one device?

Polar documents that H10 can transmit over multiple technologies. In practice, if Zonas cannot find it, close other workout apps and make sure another device has not taken the Bluetooth connection you need.
