Wahoo TICKR With Zonas

Updated June 1, 2026

Wahoo TICKR works with Zonas when it is available as a Bluetooth heart rate monitor. Wear the strap, choose BLE Strap in Zonas, scan for monitors, pair the TICKR, and start a workout. Zonas reads live BPM; it does not need a Wahoo account or Wahoo-specific integration.

Wahoo TICKR is another standard Bluetooth heart rate strap path.

Zonas does not need a Wahoo-specific SDK. It needs the strap to advertise live heart rate over Bluetooth.

Setup

  1. Put on the TICKR strap.
  2. Open Zonas on iPhone.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Select BLE STRAP.
  5. Scan for devices.
  6. Choose the TICKR when it appears.
  7. Start a workout.

Once paired, Zonas remembers the monitor and reconnects when it can.

What Zonas Reads

Zonas reads live BPM from the standard heart rate stream.

It does not use:

  • Wahoo account data
  • Wahoo workout history
  • ANT+ directly
  • Wahoo-specific metrics

The app only needs the live heart rate value.

If Pairing Fails

Most issues come from one of three things.

The strap is not awake. Wear it and wet the contact points.

Another app has the connection. Close Wahoo, Zwift, bike-computer companion apps, or anything else that may be holding the strap.

The battery or strap contact is weak. Replace the battery or reseat the strap if readings drop or freeze.

Then scan again in Zonas.

iPhone, Not ANT+

Zonas on iPhone uses CoreBluetooth.

That means Bluetooth Low Energy, not ANT+. If a sensor supports both, use the Bluetooth side for Zonas.

During The Workout

After connection, Zonas calculates your zone in real time and can keep it visible through the workout screen, Picture-in-Picture, Live Activity, and Dynamic Island.

The completed workout and heart rate samples are saved to Apple Health when you save the workout.

Common questions

Does Zonas need the Wahoo app?

No. Zonas reads live heart rate over Bluetooth. The Wahoo app can still be useful for device updates or Wahoo-specific setup.

Does Zonas use ANT+ from Wahoo TICKR?

No. iPhone Zonas uses Bluetooth Low Energy through CoreBluetooth, not ANT+.

What if the TICKR is connected somewhere else?

Close other apps or disconnect other devices, then scan again in Zonas. The strap needs to be free for the Bluetooth connection Zonas uses.
